a) The leadership style that best describes my current practice is the democratic style. This is because I involve all relevant parties in decision making instead of unilaterally making decisions where necessary. This has yield a lot of dividend in achieving our short and long term goals.
b) Am more comfortable with instructional focus of school leadership. This is because I have the ability to influence my staff in carrying out their duties to meet the short and long term goals of the school. I make sure there is consistent monitoring and evaluation of teaching and learning as responsibilities are shared among different levels of management and each level is tasked with unique responsibilities to avoid duplication of efforts or conflicting roles.
c) I would like to strengthen my capacity in conflict resolution because I only benefited once to such capacity building once and that was over ten years ago. New concepts may have been developed my experts in the field of conflict resolution.
Dear Isatou,
thanks for your insightful contribution. It's interesting that you use the democratic style to lead your school. How do you go about instances that call for fast resolution to , lets say a crisis? Do you still use the democratic style?
I agree that new conflicts keep emerging that may call for new ways of solving them ,hence need for capacity building.
