The way how it is practice is in my school is through Empathy with this it helps us a lot for greater understanding and sharing the feelings of others which help build trust and strong relationship in my school empathy help the learners feel more heard and validated leading to increase in confidence and academic success.
The challenges i face in implementing this are numerous, but just to name a few
1, limited access to counseling especially here in the rural areas
2, cultural stigma around mental health discussions.
3, Need for more trained teachers for guidance and counselling and resources.
Some of the strategies i can integrate.
1collaborate with teachers in doing that it encourages them to able to identify students who need support and provide them with resources and training to address some of the issues in school.
2 Make counseling Accessible to ensure that the counselling services are visible and accessible to all students.
3 Give peer support by making a mentoring system to promote social support and connection among students.
HOW DO I SUPPORT TEACHERS AND STAFF TO IDENTIFY AND RESPOND TO LEARNERS EMOTIONAL AND BEHAVIOURAL NEEDS.
I support them by providing training and workshops i.e. to offer regular training on signs of emotional distress and behavioral issues
2 Mentoring and coaching them pair teachers who have experience.
3 Regular check-ins i.e. holding regular meetings with teachers to discuss the progress of students and their concerns.
