LEADERSHIP PRACTICES I IMPLEMENTED IN MY SCHOOL

1.In my school, I made sure I get to know the potential of my teachers and identify those who are willing to work with senior teachers to mentor the newly employed and trainee teachers .I make sure my deputies and I regularly and consistently monitor and supervise lesson planning and presentations .The mentors I identify help in organising individual and peer coaching sessions .I also try to identify areas of improvement that affect most teachers and conduct staff development trainings to build their capacities.

2.In supporting teachers I ensure that the teachers understand that monitoring instructional practice , we intend to see how they deliver their plans and help them improve on their work and not a witch hunt So we inform them about when we will see them at work and give the opportunity to prepare for it This made them more comfortable during the monitoring

3.Celebrating teaching excellence I print certificates and award all the staff as a way of motivation for all .On the other hand I reward those who go an extra mile in other areas of school improvement such as results, extra-curricular learning and activities etc .this will motivate others to work harder. I also allowed the members of the press club to be part of an excursion without paying as a way of motivating them

Hello Madam,
I agree with the point getting to know their potentials and trying to know those who are willing to work because most teachers are able to do the work but they are not willing they think that they are working for the head teacher, like i do told my teachers you chose to be a teacher i did not chose it for you so you have do what is expected of you between you and God don't work only for money work hard always to make a positive difference.

Dear Isatou,

I am very much impressed by your write-up. I believe if you do all things that you have highlighted, there would be improvement in your school. I would like adopt some of your strategies.

Keep it up!

Kind regards!

Hi Isatou, It is obvious that teachers' potentials should be identified by the headteacher so as to delegate responsibilities based on who is good at what. The headteacher should supervise the senior teachers for a better service delivery
