1. My Leadership Practices that positively influence teaching quality

In my school context, several leadership practices  have helped improve teaching quality. Supportive lesson observation provide constructive feed back and help teachers align their lessons with curriculum goals. Peer coaching and collaboration allow teachers  to learn from one another, share strategies, and build a stronger professional culture. I also use targeted professional development, based on real classroom needs, to build teachers skills in areas like differentiation and assessment,. Finally visible and supportive leadership - being present in classrooms and modelling a growth mindset - motivates teachers  and strengthens overall searching quality.

1. Balancing Support and Accountability:

I balance support and accountability by first building trust and making it clear that monitoring aims to improve learning, not punish teachers. I use supportive practices like informal walkthroughs, positive feedback, and coaching to reduce anxiety . At the same time, I set clear expectations and apply them fairly so accountability remains consistent. I also involve teachers in reflecting on their practice and setting their own goals, which increases ownership and keeps the process both supportive and professional.

1. Celebrating Teaching Excellence without creating unhealthy competition:

To celebrate teaching excellence without creating unhealthy competition, I focus on recognising team achievements and valuing collaboration instead of ranking individuals. I give specific, genuine appreciation for good practice during meetings and encourage peer-  to peer recognition, where teachers acknowledge each other`s support and growth. I also highlight improvement over time , not just top performance. Using inclusive methods- like thank-you notes, noticeboard highlights, or sharing success stories- helps build morale while keeping  the school culture and united.

You are right Madam Jawo, team work in the school gives teachers courage to work hard. They learn from each other and share best practices. As leaders we also need to motivate and give them courage.
