When I was in one of my former schools ,a teacher reported to me that one of the pupils comes to school late and dirty on daily basis ,When I call to find out why she comes late and dirty, she told me that her step mother asks her do all the chores except cooking before going to school. So she sometimes hurry to school to avoid lateness because she does not have enough time to better prepare herself before going to school .I took her fathers contact number,
The following day, I instructed one of the teachers who was a neighbour to investigate into the matter on my behalf ,The teacher comes to school in afternoon so she was able to see what happens in that house in the morning, After one week she confirmed that what the girl told me was true .I invited the father to the school to find out if he was aware of the fact that his daughter is neither punctual nor does she appear neat while in school .He told me that the daughter's teacher told him about it but spoke to his wife to desist from the practice ,
Then I warned him that if the girl continues to be abused at home I will take a step against him because her performance was not satisfactory due to the way she was treated at home .I and the class teacher personally monitored the girl's activities and gave her more support morally and financially .By the end of the following term ,she was able to come out second in the class from second to last position. She even represented the school in a spellings competition and did very well
