a. Designing Non-punitive Monitoring and Evaluation Framework.
I design Monitoring and Evaluation Framework that ensure accountability without feeling punitive by:
- Performance of pupils: I emphasised on improving pupils' academic performance in both internal and external assessments where a target is set to be achieve in a given period.
- Collaborative Target setting: The entire teaching staff is involved in setting targets for the school for a better outcome in academic performance of pupils as well as attendance.
- Transparent, Constructive Feedback: Constructive feedback is given by observers upon conducting classroom observations. Both the observer and observee are seated and discuss the outcome of the observation. Pupils' academic performance feedbacks are also discussed to inform decisions.
- Support follow-up: I consistently provide adequate resources for teaching staff for better delivery in class. Trainings are organised based on areas for improvements identified during classroom observation.
b. Promoting staff in decisions and open communication:
- The staffs are involved in designing Monitoring and Evaluation, this makes them feel ownership of what is to be monitored and evaluated.
- Orientation: Staffs are also oriented on how Monitoring and Evaluation improves teaching and learning in class. This exactly enables them to work towards targets using SMART approach.
- Focus on collective role: I always encourage team work where responsibilities are shared and follow ups made. Staffs are also encouraged to share thoughts that can excel the school.
- Celebrate successes: Periodically, we assess ourselves based on our action plan and celebrate successes achieved.
