Unite 11 REFLECTION FORUM MARIE A GOMEZ
1) In my school, what’s working well is that we have clean drinking water available and toilets are cleaned daily. The gaps are that sometimes soap runs out, not all students wash their hands properly, and some toilets can get clogged or leak.
2) I’ve personally contributed by reminding my classmates to wash their hands before eating and reporting to a teacher when soap is missing. I also helped put up posters about hygiene near the washrooms.
3) The part of the unit that challenged my thinking most was learning about how germs spread even when things look clean. It made me realize that just having water isn’t enough—people need to know why and how to wash hands properly.
Three actions I plan to take as a WASH leader:
1. Start a weekly check of soap and towel supplies in the washrooms and report shortages.
2. Organize a short class presentation on proper handwashing steps.
3. Form a small student team to keep WASH areas tidy and encourage others to do the same.
