In Saint Aidan's Lower Bacic School. the wash facilities for the pupils here are limited
Toilets, there are limited functional toilets clean and separated from the boys and girls and not accessible for students with disabilities rams need to be provided,
Handwashing, handwashing stations are not available with enough soap and water and access to water after using the toilet is not there no taps in the toilets.
Water access, there are no reliable water source because when the Bohle is empty you cannot access water,
Maintenance, the responsibility for maintenance wash facilities is for the school authority and is a problem for a routine maintenance to be done due to lack of finance.
The improve meant i do have to lead is to increase access to clean water and more functional toilets and Rams for disabled children installing hand washing stations especially putting taps in all toilets,
Developing a maintenance plan for wash facilities, help promote hygiene education and awareness among students and staff making sure that wash facilities are more inclusive and accessible for all students
The challenges i face in implementing wash initiatives ,1 Limited resources like water and funding of infrastructure .2Iconsistent maintenance of facilities.
i address it by involving student's teacher and committees in planning and promoting wash /. initiatives with simple low-cost solutions like tippy taps for hand washing
How i engage them is by involving both learners and staff in wash committee's peer lead hygiene and form health clubs, staffs are train to integrate wash into lessons and encourage them to model good hygiene practices
collaborate with parent's local leaders and health workers to promote wash practice in both school and at homes
How learners advocate to better wash support from local authorities ,
1 Form a wash club health i.e. you organize and lead clubs to help in raising awareness and plan advocacy efforts
Engage some of the school leaders that will work with teachers and administrators to prioritize wash and support advocacy
Using social media like watsup to share some of the information like the challenges and success to raise awareness and build support
As a school learner advocate to be better in wash support making sure that clubs are form for the wash organize and lead clubs to raise awareness and plan advocacy efforts and also conduct a wash survey i.e. to gather data on current toilet conditions and share their findings with the school authorities ,create a cleaning exercise schedule work with students and staff to develop a daily cleaning routine for toilets ,Establish a waste disposal system to identify a proper disposal method for sanitary waste and work with the school to implement them.
