a) What is working well in my school is that learners, staff, and some community members actively participate in hygiene routines, supervision, and basic maintenance, creating good awareness and shared responsibility. The gaps include limited resources, inconsistent hygiene practices among some learners., maintenance challenges such as broken facilities or water shortage, and irregular community involvement, which affect the overall sustainability of WASH initiatives.
b) I have strengthen WASH systems by promoting hygiene clubs, coordinating staff routines, and involving the SMC//PTA and community in clean-ups and repairs. These actions help maintain a cleaner and safer school environment.
c) The components that challenged by thinking most were those on sustainability of WASH systems and the leadership. They made me realised that hygiene is not only about providing facilities, but also about long-term planning, behaviour change, and community ownership Understanding how monitoring, budgeting, and stakeholder engagement influence WASH outcomes pushed me to think beyond daily routines and focus more on systems that keep improvements lasting.
As a WASH leader, I plan to improve monitoring, strengthen hygiene clubs, work closely with staff, involve the SMC/PTA in maintenance, and advocate for more resources to build a sustainable WASH culture in the school.
