Unit 14 Reflection and Discussion

Headteachers should partner with parents to prevent digital crime because parents are the first line of protection for children outside the school. This could be carried out most effectively by organising digital safety workshops and regular online meetings with them . Discussing digital safety at PTA meetings is another important avenue for such, where parents can know who to contact at school if a digital crime occurs.
Students are the most exposed and the most powerful agents of change. They use digital technology more than their parents. Their involvement in  digital safety sensitization could go a long way in minimising  TFGBV . The inclusion of clear school rules on the use of phones and internet could  be useful.
Partnership with the wider community  on the prevention of digital crime is very important. Collaboration with the police, NGOs and child protection Alliance on online safety and GBV/ TFGBV is another important and helpful measure to prevent digital crime. Shared community reporting mechanisms for serious digital threats could be very helpful.  .
