UNSAFE TOUCHING IN THE SCHOOL (sexual harassment)
This scenario happened at New Jeshwang Lower Basic School in my class, grade six.
Isatou was a very intelligent girl in my class who participated a lot in class. She was not only intelligent, but beautiful and the biggest in the class.
There was a teacher in the school who always sends Isatou on errands almost every day. Whenever he sends her, he would always go to an isolated corner in the school, where he would tell the girl to meet him.
Then I observed that there were times when Isatou looked unfamiliar as her participation in class reduced, likewise her performances in both classwork and assessments . One day, I asked her why she was not participating as usual and why her performance was dwindling. She had not wanted to tell me , but when I told her that she should not hide anything from me as I was like a father to her. She then explained that there was a particular teacher who used to send her, and whenever she goes to her, the teacher used to tell her that he loves her ,and that the teacher even goes on to touch her around her secret or private areas., which she never liked , and that she wanted to tell her parents to transfer her to another school. She said that she had not wanted to tell me because I might blame her ,and also think that she was already having love affairs with the teacher.
Then I told her that she should not go anywhere, and that I will take care of the situation which I did..
