In my school, some WASH practices are working well despite the limited resources. There is a tap which support hand washing activities. during assembly students are regularly reminded about personal hygiene such as keeping themselves clean, keeping the environment clean and washing their hands before and after using the toilets. The ancillary staff and teachers on duties make sure that the toilets and their classrooms are clean .
However, there are still gaps in our WASH practices, The number of toilets is not enough for the population especially now that the girls toilets is damage and they now join the teachers toilets and some will prefer doing it outside the toilets and this reduce effective hygiene practices. Privacy in toilets is a big problem especially for female teachers and adolescent girls and there is no supply for menstrual hygiene management.
ACTIONS I PLAN TO TAKE AS WASH LEADER
I Organise a school WASH club including teachers student and ancillary staff to support peer education and regular inspection of facilities. We always sensitize personal hygiene during assembly and classroom lessons, We also work with the school management the community to mobilise funds for repair of the toilets.
