1. Visible SEN Categories & Leadership

In our school, learning disabilities (like dyslexia) and social-emotional needs (like ADHD or anxiety) are the most visible. Because of this, leadership focuses on hiring more support staff and investing in teacher training for these specific areas.

2. Identification & Support Tools

We identify learners through early screening tests and teacher observations. We find that visual schedules and speech-to-text software are very effective tools. However, a major gap we face is the long wait time for official medical assessments.

3. Instructional Support & IEPs

An inclusive classroom in our school has flexible seating and modified assignments for different levels. We use Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for every student with a diagnosis to track their specific learning goals and accommodations.

4. Collaboration with Others

We hold monthly meetings with parents to discuss progress. We also work closely with external experts, such as speech therapists, to ensure that the strategies used at home and school are the same.

5. Impact of Accommodations

Since implementing better behavior support strategies, we have seen a decrease in classroom disruptions. Students feel more confident and are making better academic progress because their unique needs are finally being met.
