a) What aspects are working well, and where are the gaps?
· There is adequate water supply
· There are enough toilets, and they are separated for the boys and girls
· There are taps for handwashing near the toilets as well as at the kitchen. We have also provided special cups for use inside the toilets.
· There are toilets for the physically challenged.
· There is a special cleaner for the toilets. She cleans them every morning and provides water inside each toilet compartment.
b) How have you personally contributed to strengthening WASH systems, if at all?
· The school does not have the resources to provide for menstrual hygiene.
· Some of our pupils do not have the training on how to use the toilets or handwashing. Despite all concerted efforts to improve sanitation in the school, the school toilets do not remain clean all day long. Many students do not know how to use the them especially those in the Early Childhood Development (ECD).
c) Which components of the unit challenged your thinking most, why?
· Actually, there is no part of the unit which challenged my thinking because the whole unit is part of our daily school routines.

1. I will make murals of handwashing at the school toilets and kitchen, to raise pupils’ awareness about handwashing.
2. Instruct the ECD teachers to continue educating their pupils about handwashing and the toilets.
3. Lobby for sanitary materials for the girls.
