1. the categories of SEN in my school is visual impaired and physical disability these two are most visible. The dua mention as an impact on teaching because these students need a qualified special needs teacher to handle and support them, which is lacking in the school. the classroom setup is not very conducive for them. moreover, the leadership decision is slow because most of us has little or no idea on special needs.
2. in our school we identify learners with SEN by through observation and close interaction. assessment can also be a tool to identify certain special education needs. in the area of support a trained special education teacher do have a routine visit to support them and that teacher do help the class teacher with those students with the skill to help them during his absent.
there are gaps because the right people to handle them is insufficient, the materials needed to help them during their learning process is not available and the environment is not so very conducive for them.
3. an inclusive classroom in my school is just a normal classroom we have in the mainstream school which so many inputs are needed to cater for inclusive. i don't develop any individualized education plan because i don't have the idea of how to put that plan. we need a training on that.
4.SEN is everyone business, there teachers are equipped basic skills to handle special needs cases. parents are sensitized on the importance of inclusiveness in learning so as for them to send their kids with special needs to school and give them support. we urge the special teachers to provide workshop for teachers on special needs.
5. little changes on accommodation because the classes are not accommodative for certain special needs cases. e.g poor rams, poor lighting system and lack of power supply in school. in the area of adaptation, students with special needs are adapting to the availability and their immediate environment.
