In my school, these are some of the SEN categories present.
1. Students with speech problem (communication)
2. Students with visual and physical disabilities (physical needs)
3. Students with learning difficulties
These categories impact teaching and leadership decisions in this ways in my school
1. They make my teachers to created a plan to meet their needs
2. Teachers also used visual aids to engage them and promote understanding
3. An itinerary teacher always comes to school time to time to help the teachers and SEN
4. The school also create a welcoming atmosphere fostering social skills and emotional well-being among all students.
5. The school does continues assessment to help teachers identify areas for improvement
These are some of the ways we identify SEN in my school
1. Teachers conduct assessment in their classes daily
2. We also conduct formal assessment at the end of each term
3. We do careful observation on the students on the school ground
We also support them in the following ways
1. We create learning plans for them by adjusting time for them
2. We provide visual aids to engage them and promote understanding
3. We collaborate with their parents, educators to ensures effective support plans to adjust their needs
4. We organised school drama club and involves them in it
Under effective strategies,
1. We do have an open dialogue to make students feel valued
2. We use visual aids, pictures based task lists, and color-coded materials to help them
3. We engage them on drama and music in the school
Under gaps and improvement the following areas are needed
1. More training of my staff is needed and in so doing, it will help them enhance their ability to support them.
2. We also needs more SEN teaching materials in the school
3. Lack of parental involvement and feedback is also a gaps in my school
This is how an inclusive classroom looks like in my school
1. We create an inclusive policy written in order to make the environment safe for them.
2. We also prepared some teaching aids to help them in learning
3. We engage them in school drama and music club
4. We encourage teachers, specialist and parents to work together to support them
These are some of the ways I engage teachers, families and external professionals in supporting learners with SEN
For the teachers
1. I provide regular training and development opportunities to make sure that teachers understand and support them
2. I will locate time for teachers to interact with them
3. I also involve my teachers in developing educational plans for them
For the parents
1. I create regular communication with their families
2. I will try to build strong partnership with their parents by involving them in decision making
3. I will also offer support and resources to families, such as counselling
For the external professionals
1. I will develop partnerships with them
2. I will collaborate with them in developing supportive plans to help them
3. I will also provide opportunities for external professionals to contribute to staff training
For the technology enhance collaboration
1. I will always shared online platform
2. I will used virtual meeting
The changes I have seen in learner progress or school culture as a result of accommodations, adaptations, or behaviour support strategies are has follows
1. Children with SEN were able to build greater confidence in what ever they are doing.
2. Some of has started performing better in their examinations.
3. They also develop better relationships with peers and adults.
4. They also feel that they are not left behind in the educational curriculum.
5. It makes the staff and other students develop a greater understanding of them.
