my observation on community involvement is the PTA monitoring. during my stay in one of the school i headed, i introduce a PTA monitoring plan together with key stakeholders, whereby few members are selected to be monitoring teaching and learning, environment, pupils' teachers relationship and few other things. when the monitoring was implemented in few months we notice a slide improvement on performance and effective teaching and learning took place.
Though there were challenges, most of those monitoring are not literate and fund was needed to train them on the monitoring tool developed. moreover, time is another challenge because most of the PTA's are family members with other role the play in and outside of their family
These challenges were addressed by sensitizing them and provide training to them from the SIG fund. In the area of time, we have general discussion with them to provide us time that they know they are less busy so as to fix their monitoring on those days.
additionally, strategies that could enhance school community partnership is to build trust between the school and the wider community, excellent teamwork, networking among stakeholders, transparent etc.
