The School Improvement Plàni is an integral aspect of a successful School. This is because planning is the most fundamental factor for success. SIP brings a whole School community to work towards shared goals.
In my school, I used SIPs to guide development and decision making on numerous occasions .
Before I commence writing the SIP, I call for a Senior Management Team, the Seonior teachers, then the SMC to discuss on the priority areas. Then whatever plans are agreed upon, the Senior teachers will extend the message to the junior teachers .
Parents are represented by the SMC, although some community elders and local stakeholders are also invited to take part in the planning. Through this, everyone feels involved and whenever one or two planned ares are to be implemented, ther is always commitment from all and sundry, and it allows Parents and the local community support school activities and resource mobilisation.
SIP, if well carried out ,encouraged shared ownership, and builds stronger cooperation. leading to the achievement of the desired goals.As SIP is not a headteacher-owned buta school or community owned, I always make sure that it is done transparently and inclusively. This way I succeed in guiding development and decision making in my school.
