Hello Professor Moon and Everyone,
My name is Muhammad Ibn Junaid. I am a Professor of Education at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Nigeria and currently a consultant for COL's Teacher Futures Project in Sierra Leone. My main interest is teacher education and in the recent past, I had worked closely with TESSA and Professor Moon on how to improve the quality of teacher education in Nigeria. My role in the Teacher Futures Project in Sierra Leone is assisting the Freetown Teachers College to design and implement an ICT- enhanced school-based teacher professional development model.
The main objective of the Project is to improve the institution's capacity to develop and offer school-based training opportunities for serving teachers by using mobile technology to promote microlearning , as well as, stimulate peer collaboration through networked learning and communities of practice (CoPs).
I have so far made two trips to Sierra Leone, first to facilitate the Project Design Workshop and second to conduct a baseline survey on the e-readiness of the project schools and teachers. I shall shortly (in March, 2018) be going back there for a Learning Design Workshop, review of OERs and development of a roll-out plan for the SBTD in SL.
