This Welcome module covers important information and instructions about the course.

If you are new to IVLST, start here by watching the video below to meet Victor Dusabumuremyi and Marcellin Rutegwa, two members of your instructional team.

Welcome to Integrating Virtual Labs in STEAM Teaching! IVLST is an open educational resource or OER; you are taking this course with hundreds of other participants from around the world.

For some of you, this will be an entirely new experience. Others of you will have taken online courses before, but not in this format. Whether you are new to OER-based courses or already have some experience, please take a few minutes to read through this section to learn how IVLST works and to make the best use of this course.

In this Welcome section you will:

• complete the Welcome survey,
• review the basics on how to find your way around this Canvas system,
• preview what the course is all about and how you can participate,
• determine what you have to do to earn a certificate,
• learn how to use the forums to talk to others and share ideas as a community of practice,
• meet the rest of your instructional team, and
• introduce yourself to your fellow course participants from around the world.
