Before you begin...

An assignment rubric is a scoring tool that  represents the performance expectations for an assignment. It divides the assigned work into component parts and provides clear descriptions of the characteristics of the work associated with each component, at varying levels of mastery. Your assignment now is to create a rubric for an assignment or a project in your course.

Task 1: Create a Rubric

Follow the following steps in this tutorial below to create a rubric for an assignment in your course.

  • Start by identifying the assignment or project that you will be using to create your rubric.
  • Create your rubric to include:
  • Clear statement of what is expected of students
  • Clear delineation of criteria for assessment
  • Range of performance standards
  • Create the rubric in Moodle.

Discussion

Once you have your rubric ready, start a new thread in the Discussion forum and give feedback on the glossary content though participation in the Uploading Course Materials discussion. In your groups, make sure that you provide each other with constructive feedback about the structure and organization of the rubric. Feel free to make suggestions about different ways of going about structuring the rubric.
