You can see that there are many options available to you in exploiting the local environment. It also presents the opportunity for working with teachers from other subjects. For example, a common topic for secondary classes is the question of pollution and the problems caused by dumping rubbish in the marine environment. This would make a very interesting area of cross-curriculum, multi-subject enquiry.
